AND THEN THE RAINS CAME

When the rain hits sometimes the trees don't take it so well.

Summer sort of left here a few days ago. Abruptly. Instantly it became Fall.

One of the first yellow leaves of Fall -- taken two weeks ago.

All of a sudden it's light rain, and cold at night. I.e., early winter style cold. 48 degrees -- that's cold for the first few days of September here in Seattle. For those outside of the U.S., that's 7.3C. Cold enough summer temps anywhere, I'd think...

A local bullfrog pond during drought season, just three weeks ago or so. The local bullfrogs weren't happy.
Then the rains came and it refilled with water. The bullfrogs are now happy. :-)
A photo of the Cedar River taken during mid-August, during 75 degree, early evening weather. The river is so low in this picture you can probably wade across it and it barely hits your knees. During Spring, Fall, or Winter it is fast, and dangerous.

Of course, summer wasn't going to last forever.

They say it will be 80+ degrees (25+C) this next weekend. I hope so.

As for life, well, it's been the same. Still working on writing, still working, still working out, although I had to back off a little on the weight for a week (almost got a muscle strain). Slowly building back to the weight I was pushing in May, except my form is better and it feels better afterwards.
Guys playing cricket at the local park. They play there every summer. Sometimes they have teams in uniforms.

I have a few posts written I haven't posted yet here... a couple of them are perhaps too long and need to be shortened, and a few are on my Long Distance Radio listening hobby, something very few people are interested in.

I have a collection of radios that pull in stations from 1000 miles away or more, and have repaired / modified a couple of them, and took photos of the process, and will post the posts here from time to time over the Fall. Fall and Winter are the best times for Long Distance radio listening.

Now -- most of you who read this probably just listen to radio on your smart phone.

Very convenient, but not as fun as sitting there with the headphones on, tuning in a station from Mexico, hearing it fade in and out...And the static. Don't forget the static.

Such radio signals sound like they're far away, and they sound magical.
Late summer sunset near the Catholic Church at White Center.

It's like astronomy. Who needs a telescope when you can see excellent pictures of Saturn on the internet? But when you pull out your telescope and see this tiny oblong disc of light in your eyepiece it's a bit more fun.

I guess you have to be there..... :-)

Same sunset as above, just a minute later.

The photos here are some of the photos I took over the past three weeks or so, when it was still 80 degrees during the day, and 15C at night. I usually get out on my bike every day or evening, and generally take my camera with me. I also sometimes take it to work with me, and that's how I got the photo of the sunset above, in White Center (a Seattle suburb).

Here's hoping those of you who have tuned in here are having good weather this September so far.

Dry leaves on the Cedar River Trail in mid-August. Now the leaves will be yellowing and falling from the trees soon. :-(

And hopefully there is good weather for those who are refugees in Europe. They say it's the biggest migration since World War II. The photos of all those people with nothing but the clothes on their backs and a few other items, it's a bit heartrending.

We live in troublesome times.

Hope your times are not so troublesome, dear reader.

And a Happy Labor Day to those who are celebrating it this weekend.
